Edge Protection Systems

Edge Protection Systems, for the most part, construction sites are safe environments. Yet that’s no accident. The reason many multi-year construction projects can shift tonnes of material, use hundreds of personnel, and build incredible, sizeable infrastructure without injury or worse is because of vast, complex rules and the equipment to enforce them.

Without these rules, the construction industry is a high-risk environment where the margin for error is alarmingly slim. But these regulations are no perfect safety blanket. Workers routinely contend with heights, scaffolding, and open edges – a combination of hazards that could easily cause harm without stringent safety protocols.

Enter edge protection systems, an essential defence on the site, and a convenient set of installations to protect workers from fall hazards, regardless of job role.

Rapid Height Safety understands the importance of these risks, and as such has developed edge protection for all construction sites, maintenance projects, and anywhere elevated work occurs.

Let’s discuss the safety of Edge Protection systems, and how to ensure safety from the ground-up.

Rapid Post Edge Protection Systems Are Quick & Convenient

The Rapid Post system is one of Rapid Height Safety’s most convenient edge protection products. The guardrail posts can be spaced up to 2.7m apart – the widest spacing available. This means using fewer posts and panels overall compared to other systems. Experienced crews can fully install 20 meters of edge protection in just 10 minutes, making safety as convenient as ever.

Instead of drilling holes into concrete, the Rapid Post bases just sit on the surface using friction and weight to stay upright. That means zero messy dust or debris, and no weathering delays waiting for your concrete to cure. The result is a much cleaner install process which almost any site worker will appreciate.

The posts and panels are designed to be incredibly light yet tough enough for leading edges, and internal shaft, preventing falls reliably. Said pre-made panels come in full, three-quarters, half and quarter sizes to provide just the right coverage needed.

Moreover, each post has a built-in safety indicator that visually confirms proper assembly, with tamper seals that help you ensure correct usage. Rapid Height Systems think like site workers, proving that safety doesn’t have to be a nuisance.

Standard Support Post Systems

With curb grab, adjustable parapet brackets, slab grabs and slab edge brackets, RHS’s standard support post systems can be used for flexible single-height, drill and fix systems.

This means they’re perfect to have on hand regardless of the complexities of the project, such as varied stairwells that need to be secured, internal voices, and balconies. They come in a number of sizes including full (2900mm), three-quarter (1980mm), half (1400mm), and quarter (1075mm) panels.

As you can imagine, having such robust and dependable support post systems in place allow you to remain prepared for anything, meaning that even unique infrastructure projects with pressing challenges will never be without security.

Dual Purpose Systems Offer Robust Safety Despite Limited Training

The Dual Purpose System from Rapid Height Safety prioritises keeping edge protection simple, flexible and robust. It requires a drill-and-fix setup that mounts smoothly to either concrete or timber surfaces – that means no fussing around.

The whole system consists of just two main pieces – uprights posts and pre-made panel sections. Having such a minimalist parts list makes transporting, storing, and managing everything on-site an absolute breeze.

Moreover, this system is adaptable and can be applied to many (edge) cases. Single, double or full-height guardrail measurements let you dial in the perfect coverage needed. Despite being lightweight components, they’re built tough enough to handle risky conditions. Including leading edges, interior voids, and lift shafts, keeping every on-site worker safe.

Such posts can be spaced an easy 2.7m apart, giving you more bang for your buck. Combine that spacing optimisation with the system’s streamlined (but not simplified) design, and you can ensure safety with minimal training. This provides a flexible sweet spot between convenience and capability. While it also helps  staff feel capable of implementing such a system and guaranteeing their safety.
